ONLINE UPDATE - Feb 22 A quickly evolving mix of icy rain covered Russell County on Thursday morning, prompting the 10 a.m. dismissal of the county school system. A number of traffic accidents caused by slick highways happened within minutes of each other, including an overturned pickup truck on the Cumberland Parkway that involved two other vehicles. Several persons were also injured by falls. The weather cleared and roads were relatively normal by mid-afternoon.

Jamestown's historic "Doughboy" statue is seriously damaged by flying truck

The officer said he was about to chase a truck he'd seen speeding down U.S. 127 toward the square in Jamestown when the vehicle launched into the air, careened off the metal doughboy statue and then the flag pole before coming to rest on the other side of the monument.

They have been approved but are yet to be installed.
