MAE HOOVER 1938-2008: Community loses leader who aided many

JAMESTOWN - It was truly standing room only as friends from far and near came to pay their last respects to Mae Hoover Tuesday afternoon. "We tried to make it a celebration of her life," said one of her sons, Jeff Hoover, currently the Minority Leader in the Kentucky House of Representatives.

Cave Springs Marina cuts the ribbon

JABEZ - Lake Cumberland’s newest marina is officially open. U.S. Congressman Ed Whitfield joined with Russell County Judge-Executive Mickey Garner and owners Ed and Esty Slusser in “cutting the ribbon” last Saturday at Cave Springs Marina.

Record number participate in Kids Catch A Rainbow fishing derby
In June 12-18 issue
The 22nd annual event, held at the Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery, drew what was called a record number of participants this year. James Gray, Director of the WCNF Hatchery, estimated that around 1,650 young people took part and over 4,000 were in attendance.
