Hunting for bodies deep at the base of dam
In June 19-25 issue
WOLF CREEK DAM - Gene and Sandy Ralston made a return trip to Lake
Cumberland recently, and again they were searching for the body of a
drowning victim. They were also asked to hunt for a possible murder victim. The Ralstons run a very successful recovery service, which quickly
located the body of Shane Pierce in December of 2006 in the dark depths
of Lake Cumberland.

Movement on jail: not much
In June 19-25
JAMESTOWN - No decisions, no recommendations, no movement at all came
from the Russell County Fiscal Court in regard to the question of
whether to build a jail or not. The members of the court received the report they'd asked for from the
consulting company hired to study the options for building a new jail.

Russell Springs says no to ATV riders

RUSSELL SPRINGS - Upon hearing the reading of a letter by City Attorney
Matthew DeHart concerning the riding of all-terrain vehicles on city
property, city leaders decided it best not lease property to citizens
for ATV use during last Thursday's meeting of the Russell Springs City

Residents raising own food to save $$

RUSSELL SPRINGS - With much of the Midwest experiencing record flooding
and the loss of million of dollars worth of crops in recent weeks,
Kentucky farmers and vegetable garden growers — including those in this
county — are looking at how they can help themselves shore up from the
loss, according to E. Raymond Thompson, Russell County's extension
agent for agriculture.

Fuel prices fuel local farmers' concerns

RUSSELL SPRINGS - Russell County's farmers are being hit hard by rising
diesel fuel costs, which as of Tuesday are around $4.70 per gallon,
nationwide, according to E. Raymond Thompson, Russell County's
extension agent for agriculture and natural resources.

Three seriously injured in head-on collision
In June 19-25 issue
JAMESTOWN - A head-on collision Monday afternoon east of Jamestown sent
three people to UK Medical Center via Air-Evac helicopter with serious
injuries. Two otheres were treated at the Russell County Hospital for
non-life threatening injuries.
