It was a good weekend in a not-so-good summer. That is the consensus of at least three of the marina operators in the county. James Flatt, manager of Indian Creek Alligator 2 Marina, said the
recent holiday and memorial day were both very busy on the lake, but it
is the other weekends and especially the weeks that have been
not-so-good.

Jamestown’s annual summer event draws many to town square
In July 10-16 issue JAMESTOWN - With Lakefest over and Monument Square cleaned up, business in the city is back to normal this week, according to Councilwoman and Lakefest Chair Marcelene Taylor. The four-day event began last Wednesday, July 2, with what she said was a well-attended prayer service and singing. It lasted through Saturday night's free concert by the group Confederate Railroad and a fireworks display
Dispute over operation of dispatch center surfaces at meeting

JAMESTOWN - Officials met Tuesday night to consider melding the operation of the county ambulance and dispatch services. Mayors Hollis DeHart of Russell Springs and Brooks Bates of Jamestown,
along with County Judge-Executive Mickey Garner, brought a document to
the board asking them to take over the oversight and funding for the
Emergency Dispatch Center and the 911 addressing program.
In July 10-16 issue RUSSELL SPRINGS - Babe Ruth teams from six different counties, including Russell, ascended this past weekend to Laker Field to participate in the Babe Ruth Leagues of Kentucky District 5 baseball tournaments.

JAMESTOWN - One person was killed and two others injured in an ATV
accident late Saturday night, July 5, in the Caney Fork Creek area of
eastern Russell County. Russell County Coroner Larry Skaggs said Christopher L. Robertson, 45,
of Jamestown, was killed when the all-terrain "mule" type vehicle he
was riding in, flipped backward while it was going up a steep incline.

Jordan Redmon, 16, of Russell Springs, reportedly went under the water
in the Big South Fork of the Cumberland River Monday afternoon while
swimming. Divers recovered the teen's body in seven feet of water about two hours later.
