Lakers shock Somerset, 27-23
ONLINE UPDATE-Oct. 18
The Lakers, led by 100 yard rushing efforts by quarterback Bryon Ellis and halfback Landon Meece, upended the Somerset Briar Jumpers Friday night in Pulaski County, 27-23.
The Lakers controlled the clock for much of the game and outlasted the Briar Jumpers, who were favored in the game. Meece scored the go-ahead touchdown late in the game to put Soerset away.
The Lakers (3-5, 1-2 in district play) return to district action next Friday at Laker Field when they host Allen County-Scottsville.

The Russell County Lady Laker volleyball team won the 45th District
Girls Volleyball tournament after defeating McCreary Central and Wayne County on Monday in Monticello.
Four Lady Lakers
were named to the all-district tournament team: Tyla Bailey, Bethany
McQueary, Kasey Keaton and Tara Johnson. The team has one senior, Stephanie Rizenbergs.
