The Russell County Lakers swept three games this weekend to capture the Covered Bridge Tournament title in Fleming County. The Lakers remain undefeated on the year at 8-0.
The Lakers defeated Estill County, Fairview and Williamstown to capture the tournament's championship.
Coach Willie Feldhaus' Lakers won each game by double digits, defeating Williamstown 72-56 on Sunday, Fairview 64-54 on Saturday and Estill County 77-59 on Friday.
The Russell County Lady Lakers defeated Burgin by a score of 77-46 at Laker Gym to improve to 5-1 on the year. Coach Craig Pippen's team managed to get out to an early lead and never looked back. Look for the full story on the game in next week's issue.
