Firefighters work blaze at Russell Springs home
In Jan. 29 Issue An early morning house fire in Russell Springs on Sunday sent five
people to the local hospital with smoke inhalation and destroyed the
home, according to Russell Springs Fire Chief H.M. Bottom.

Snow is here; travel is hazardous and unsafe
ONLINE UPDATE-Jan. 28
The snow has arrived in Russell County. Late this morning, the precipitation changed over to snow and forecasts predict a total of 1-3 inches in the Lake Cumberland area.
Numerous wrecks have been reported already this morning and officials are urging everyone to stay off the roads while the winter storm passes through the region.

Online Update 27 JanuaryKentucky Gov. Steve Beshear has declared an emergency in Kentucky because of a powerful winter storm. The declaration enables state resources to be mobilized to assist cities and counties in coping with power outages and other damage wrought by ice and snow.
