Russell Springs man charged with manslaughter in deadly collision

A Russell Springs man was involved in a deadly crash on Thursday in Green County and criminal charges, including second degree manslaughter, have been filed against him, according to Billy Gregory of the Kentucky State Police.

RS Council donates for tourism

agreed to give that amount again after June 30 if the city's budget can

Lakers defeat Madison Southern; Amy Gossage named Basketball Queen
In Feb. 19 Issue The Russell County Lakers defeated Madison Southern on Tuesday night at Laker Gym by a score of 53-42 to move to 20-5 on the season.
Amy Gossage was crowned the 2009 Basketball Queen on Tuesday night. Gossage is the daughter of James and Sherry Gossage. Her escort was Nick Rizenbergs, who is the son of David and Penny Rizenbergs.

Lady Lakers throttle Pulaski, 63-42
ONLINE UPDATE-Feb. 17
The 14-10 Lady Lakers pulled off a much
needed win on Monday night, 63-42, over the Lady Maroons of Pulaski
County at Laker Gym.
The Lady Lakers had three players in
double figures, led by LeeAnn Grider's 18 points followed closely by
Lindsay Ramage's 17 points. Both players also grabbed nine rebounds
each.

Lakers, Lady Lakers fall at rival Adair Co.
ONLINE UPDATE-Feb. 14
The Russell County Lakers and Lady Lakers were both defeated on the road Friday night at rival Adair County.
The Lakers lost 59-44 to the Indians. Bryon Ellis led Russell County with 19 points in the game. Adair County's Darren Ballou, who's signed to play at Morehead St. next season, had 23 points.
The Lady Lakers were defeated 43-37 by Adair County in the night's first game. The ladies were led in scoring by LeeAnn Grider with 18 points. Adair County was led by McKenzie Martin's 16 points.
