Lakers move on, Lady Lakers have season ended

The Lakers and Lady Lakers opened the 16th District tournament on Monday as they took on Metcalfe County. The Lakers defeated the Hornets in a highly competitive game, 70-57, and now turn their focus toward the district title game on Friday at 7 p.m. against the Cumberland County Panthers.
The Lady Lakers fell to Metcalfe County in the night's first game, 48-41, despite a late comeback attempt, ending their season.
The 16th District tournament is being hosted Cumberland County High School in Burkesville.

RCHS teams split with Allen County-Scottsville
ONLINE UPDATE-Feb. 21
The Russell County Lakers and Lady Lakers ended the regular season on Friday night by splitting a boy-girl doubleheader with visiting Allen County-Scottsville.
Russell County's boys, 21-5, defeated ACS 59-51 in the night's first game. Senior Bryon Ellis led the way on Senior Night with 17 points.
In the girls game, the Lady Lakers fell behind early and lost 55-33. Russell County, 14-11, was led in scoring by LeeAnn Grider with 15 points.
The Lakers and Lady Lakers open the 16th District tournament on Monday when they take on Metcalfe County. The 16th District tournament is being hosted Cumberland County High School in Burkesville. The Lady Lakers will play at 6 p.m with the boys game to follow at approximately 7:30 p.m..
