In Jan. 10-16, 2008 issueBy Derek Aaron, Times Journal Reporterderek@russellcounty.netJAMESTOWN - A Russell Springs man charged with murder entered a plea of "not guilty" Tuesday morning during his arraignment in the Russell Circuit Courtroom.
Ronald Copley, 61, was indicted last November for the shooting death of his wife, Pamela Copley, on Decatur Rd. on November 8.
At the arraignment before Judge Vernon Miniard., a pre-trial hearing was set for April 22 with an actual trial date set for November 3.
After the alleged shooting, Copley fled on foot, leading to a manhunt lasting several hours which included members of the Russell County Sheriff's Department, Russell Springs Police Department and the Kentucky State Police along with at least one constable.
He was found and arrested by authorities nearly a mile from the scene in a mobile home.
He underwent surgery to repair wounds to his wrists afterward. It was reported at the time that the injuries to his wrist were self-inflicted.
Copley is also charged with wanton endangerment allegedly pointing a handgun at Deputy David Cain while trying to evade police and for burglary for breaking into the mobile home where he was found and taken into custody.
Copley has been in jail since the incident. No bond was set for Copley during Tuesday's arraignment.
