The Russell County Middle School Lakers visited Green County last week, putting away the Dragons in both the 7th and 8th grade games.
In the 7th grade game, Coach Michael Carpenter had the Lakers ready to play as they walloped the Dragons 49-27.
Leading the way for the Lakers was Tyler Robertson, who put up 13 point sin the victory. He was the only double-digit scorer for the 7th grade. Eight other Lakers saw action and scored in the victory.
Garrett Stephens had nine points for the 7th grade while Lucas Whittle totaled seven points.
Both Dustin Pierce and Jalen Bennett scored five apiece for the Lakers while Austin Beard had four points. Nick Britt, Barton Mann and Spencer Roy contributed two points each in the victory.
In the 8th grade matchup, the Lakers pulled out a hard-fought five-point victory over Green County, besting the Dragons by a score of 53-48.
Hunter Best led the charge with 13 points while Jared Gosser scored a dozen for the Lakers. Tyler Robertson hit for 11 points in the game while Evan Selby scored nine points.
Paul Allan Dick and Blake Aaron both had four points for the Lakers in the victory.
The Middle School Laker home game against Hart County for Jan. 21 was canceled due to inclement weather. The Lakers are scheduled to play Campbellsville at 5 p.m. on Thursday at the Russell County Middle School gym.
