WOLF CREEK DAM - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recently announced their intent to conduct a test of the emergency evacuation siren at Kendall Campground.
That siren serves the campground and Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery, both located directly below Wolf Creek Dam Judy Daulton, with the local Corps office, said it was important the people are aware that this is only a test.
She said the test should not take long, lasting about a minute, and will only activate the siren for the recreation area and the hatchery, though landowners nearby may be able to hear it as well.
The test is set for Wednesday, Feb. 20, at 1 p.m.
An official Corps release regarding the plans stressed that this is only a test, adding that in the unlikely event of a breach of the dam, the siren will be activated and an evacuation plan put into effect to assist the visiting public in the Kendall and Fish Hatchery areas.
