The Russell County Grand Jury true-billed charges against 16 people last week. This was the first meeting of the newly empanelled grand jury for this year.
Artist Wilson, 56, was charged with driving while his license was suspended for driving while under the influence, 2nd offense as well as DUI 3rd offense; having improper registration plate and disregarding a traffic control device.
Brittany J. Foley, 19, was charged with four counts of possession of a forged instrument 2nd degree as well as two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card over $100.
Ty Boling, 35, was indicted for alleged criminal possession of a forged instrument 2nd degree, theft By deception of property or services valued under $300, and being a persistent felony offender.
Alexander L. Hill, 18, was charged with theft by unlawful taking of property or services valued over $300; four counts of fraudulent use of a credit card over $100; as well as four counts of theft by deception and tampering with physical evidence.
Wilford D. Evans, 28 was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance; possession of drug paraphernalia as well as carrying a concealed deadly weapon and possession of police radio.
Ashley R. Johnson, 21, was charged with obtaining a controlled substance by fraud or false statement.
Samuel D. Luttrell, 22, was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance; DUI; speeding, giving false information to a police officer and being a persistent felony offender.
Gerald Hendricks, 42, was charged with theft by unlawful taking over $300.
Murlis Orm Kelsey, 73, was charged with retaliating against a participant in the legal process.
Anthony D. Wells, 27, was charged with receiving stolen property valued over $300.
Geneva E. Rose, 31, was charged with theft by unlawful taking over $300 and tampering with physical evidence.
Michael R. Kerr, 37, was charged with theft by unlawful taking over $300; tampering with physical evidence and being a persistent felony offender.
Brenda Worley, 44, and Steven W. Williams, 50, were charged with trafficking in controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Worley was also indicted with two others in another indictment. She was charged in the other indictment with two counts of possession of a controlled substance; possession of drug paraphernalia.
Rosalene Williams, 50, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance; possession of drug paraphernalia and being a persistent felony offender.
Melissa Owens was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance; possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.
An indictment is not proof of guilt or innocence but rather the judgment by the members that sufficient evidence of a crime was presented to warrant a trial of the accused.
