Russell County Business & Professional Women’s Club is having a Tasting Extravaganza reportedly set for March 27 at the Jamestown Christian Church Fellowship Hall from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Club member Patti Lamb said that tickets are priced at $10 each for a chance to taste over 25 different dishes, ranging from Mexican cornbread, to crockpot meatballs, or Ritz-cracker cookies made by the club’s members.
The group also plans to have some local restaurant owners and local caterers there with some of their special dishes.
Those who attend the tasting will not only get to sample all the dishes but they will take home the recipes for them on a compact disc.
The proceeds of the Tasting Extravaganza will go to fund the BPW scholarship program.
Tickets can be purchased at First National Bank, Bank of Jamestown, Monticello Bank, United Citizens Bank or any BPW member.
Nona Wooten at Monticello Bank said, “I’m fixing a Sauerkraut Party Dip and a Banana Brunch Punch.
“I chose the dip because it is very easy to make because working women of today don’t have a lot of time to prepare meals,” Wooten explained.
“Our goal is to sell 100 tickets,” Wooten said.
The money goes toward funding two $500 scholarships the group awards to high school senior-girls every year.
Joyce Coffey at First National Bank praised the scholarship program as well and said this event is a great way to bring people together to share a few interesting recipes.
“We thought this would be a good way to raise funds and involve the community,” she said.
Sausage quiche is one of the dishes Coffey said she is cooking for the event.
“One of the other ladies said they were doing broccoli salad and Mexican cornbread,” Coffey added.
For tickets stop by and see any of the ladies or Anita Tucker with United Citizens Bank in Columbia or Janet Clark at the Bank of Jamestown.
