The Laker baseball team dropped their home opener to the
Somerset Briar Jumpers 7-3 last week while the Junior Varsity Lakers managed a
5-3 victory.
In the varsity game, Kyle Roy took the loss for the Lakers.
Derek Popplewell had a double and one RBI, Josh Popplewell had a double, Cody
Stephens had a double and Cody Coffey had a double and one RBI.
Brett Huddleston won the JV game for the Lakers.
The Lakers defeated Troy Christian Academy
out of Ohio last Wednesday, 4-1.
The winning pitcher was Adam Black.
Drew Richards had a double and a RBI while David Wooldridge
had two hits. Cody Coffey also had a double.
The Lakers JV defeated Troy,
15-0, in the second game of the evening with Dillon Downey getting the victory.
Bryson McFall had two doubles and three RBI in the victory. Downey
also had two RBI.
Last Saturday the Lakers faced rival Adair
County and Corbin in a doubleheader,
beating both teams, 10-1 and 6-1, respectively.
Against Adair, Quentin Warriner got the victory with help
from Cody Stephens, who had four RBI nad Drew Richards who had two RBI. Bryson
McFall and Cody Coffey homered in the victory against Corbin.
The Lakers defeated Wayne
County, 4-0, on Tuesday while the
JV Lakers won by a score of 4-1.
Senior Josh Popplewell came up big for the Lakers, hitting a
homerun and collecting three RBIs.
