The Lady Lakers traveled to Bowling Green April 4-5, dropping three games in two days.
The Lakers played games against Logan County, Pine Forest and Todd County Central in the Bowling Green Invitational and came up short in all three of the games.
Against Logan County, Sophomore Kyla Thomas got hte loss as Logan County squeaked past the Lady Lakers, 10-9.
Megan Huckaby had two triples and three RBI for Russell County in the game while Lacy Holt went 2-4 with one RBI.
Against Pine Forest, Thomas would get another disheartening loss as the Lady Lakers were defeated, 13-12, while out-hitting the opposition by one.
Abbie Tarter went 3-5 with one RBI while Holt had a homerun, a double and four RBI. Huckaby had three hits and one RBI while Holly McBeath went 2-4 with a triple and an RBI. Sara McClure also had two hits in the loss.
In the Lady Laker’s final games of the two-day event, Todd County Central won by a score of 10-2.
Tarter got the loss for the Lakers and went 1-2 from the batter’s box with one RBI. Huckaby also had a hit in the game.
Sarah Shaw had a double while Jenna Burris had a single in the game.
Tarter sustained a knee injury in the game and is out indefinitely. The loss of Tarter, a key freshman, is a tough blow for a young Lady Laker team that has been through so much in the season’s beginning.
