The 6th graders at Russell Springs Elementary recently completed the first year of the Math Pals Intervention Program which aimed to help them build self-confidence in their own math skills.
The program, which ran from Feb. 1 through April 5, helped children in primary grades build a more concrete understanding of math concepts by providing them with additional one-on-one support with problems that were difficult for them, according to David Miller, a 6th grade mathematics teacher.
One kindergarten class, all four first grade classes, all five second grade classes, both third grade math classes, a fourth grade math class and a 5th grade math class were involved in the program.
“R.S.E.S. is committed to helping students achieve academic excellence in math by providing them with all the resources available and by personal dedication to the development of our young minds,” Miller said.
The 6th grade would like to thank the following sponsors who helped the successful first year of the Math Pals Intervention Program, Kroger, K-Mart, Sonic, Blockbuster, Video Station, Wendy’s, Lake and Shake, Papa John’s and Subway.
