Lady Lakers win on Senior Day, Laker baseball ends

The Russell County High School Lady Lakers sent their two seniors, Felicia Coffey and Megan Huckaby, off in style with an 8-4 victory over Casey County last Friday in the last home game of the season.

Abbie Tarter took the mound for Russell County and got the victory after pitching a great game.

Russell County also won the junior varsity game, 4-0, over the Lady Rebels.

Taylor Irvin got the victory in the game while Chelse Hadley picked up the save.

The Lady Lakers beat Metcalfe County, 11-7, in the first game of the 16th district tournament on Tuesday to move on to the district title game on Thursday at 6 p.m.

They will face Clinton County at Metcalfe County High School.

The Laker baseball team finished their season on Monday after losing, 5-0, to host Metcalfe County in 16th district tournament action.

David Rexroat’s Lakers ended the season with an 18-13 overall record while going 3-4 in district play.
