WOLF CREEK NATIONAL FISH HATCHERY: Clean Air for Kentucky Workshop
In a partnering endeavor with the Kentucky Department for Environmental Protection, Division for Air Quality (http://www.air.ky.gov), Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery helped to serve as the launching site for the newly developed “Clean Air for Kentucky” curriculum.
The one day workshop took place on Wednesday, June 11th, 2008 at the hatchery and was led by Elizabeth Robb-Schmitz, Environmental Education Specialist with the Division of Air.
Along with providing a day of fun and engaging training that included numerous hands on activities, the event also included a great amount of discussion and dialogue on current environmental topics, such as global warming and how to better connect children with nature.
The new curriculum is geared towards students in grades 4th through 12th, and due to such immense positive feedback from the 12 participants in attendance, the Division of Air Quality is planning to host the second phase of the program’s development at the hatchery in 2009.
