Rising Lindsey Wilson junior and Jamestown native Krista Burton's quest for her second State Am ended last week with a 5&4 match play loss to Kentucky signee Ashlee Rose in the quarterfinals of the 82nd Women's Kentucky State Amateur Championship at Elizabethtown Country Club in Elizabethtown.
Rose jumped out to a 3-up lead after the first four holes with a conceited eagle, a birdie and a pair of pars.
Burton cut the lead to 2-up on No. 5 with a conceited par, but Rose rebounded to win No. 6 after making a 25-foot birdied putt.
The pair halved the next four holes.
Burton won No. 11 to cut the deficit to 2-down with a 15-foot putt for birdie.
But Rose won the next two holes with pars to close out the match and advance to Thursday afternoon's semifinals.
Burton advanced to the quarterfinals of the 82nd Women's Kentucky State Amateur Championship with a 3&2 win today over Kentucky signee Laura McGehee at Elizabethtown Country Club in Elizabethtown.
Burton fell behind early but battled back to win five of six holes in the middle of the round to advance.
Congratulations to Krista!
