The annual Lakefest and Independence Day celebration in Jamestown began in earnest Thursday with events through a performance by recording artists Confederate Railroad and the big fireworks show on the square Saturday night.

The winners of the pageants on Friday night were: Kylie Justine Hadyon was crowned Miss Lakefest, Emily Ann Wesley was named 1st runner-up and Riann Elizabeth Templin was chosen 2nd runner-up.

Girls 0 to 6 months....Winner: Madison Grace Glover; 1st runner-up: Hailey Jade Ginn; 2nd runner-up: Gracie Jo Schorman

Boys 0 to 6 months....Winner: Haven Charles Conner; 1st runner-up: Max Asher Davis; 2nd runner-up: Ethen Gerek LaFavers

Girls 7 to 9 months....Winner: McKenzie Williams; 1st runner-up: Jasmine Elizabeth: 2nd runner-up: Kiara Jace Reeder

Boys 7 to 9 months....Winner: Micah Daniel Loy; 1st runner-up: Theodore Hare; 2nd runner-up: Ty Doyle McGowan
