In August 7-13 IssueThe 15-year-old Russell County Babe Ruth All-Stars received an invitation to play as a wild card team in the 15-year-old Ohio Valley Regional in Somerset last weekend.
In the tournament, which saw teams from this state, West Virginia, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan, compete, Russell County went 1-2 in three games before being eliminated.
Russell County lost their first game, 8-1, against South Lexington before defeating Owensboro-Daviess County, 1-0.
Frankfort defeated Russell County 16-5 to eliminate them from regional play.
Roger Brumley led Russell County in RBIs with three while Dillon Downey and Taylor Hutchison led the team in batting average.
Martin Cross got the lone victory on the mound for Russell County against Owensboro.
The team consisted of Trent Morris, Taylor Hutchison, Jared Coffey, Martin Cross Rue Hockensmith, Dillon Downey, Roger Brumley, Kyle Gehring, Cody Overby and Alex Selby.
Russell County was coached by Barry Coffey, David Cross and Darrell Selby.
