JAMESTOWN - “I hope everyone doesn’t wait till the last day to file,” said County Clerk Lisha Popplewell.
State-wide, August 12th is the last day to file for local office. She said the date is set and the deadline is 4 p.m. that day.
The drawing for ballot position comes just two days later and then the campaign season will truly be upon us.
There are seats open on the Jamestown City Council, the school board, the soil conservation district as well as all of the seats on the new Russell Springs City Council.
So far, fewer have filed than the positions availble. As of Wed., Aug. 6, those who have filed are
Jamestown Larry Joe Murray, presently on the council Harold “Frog” Miller, also an incumbent David Lawless, long-time council member
Board of Education Wayne Gosser, an incumbent
Soil Conservation District Victor H. Cooper Aubry Johnson
Russell Springs Ray Barrett, long-time member of the previous commission Timmy Hudson, elected to the commission for the first time last year.
