The Mighty Laker Marching Band will open the 2008 marching band season Saturday as they participate in the Mark Twain Pre-Season Exhibition presented at the Adair County High School in Columbia.
The program will get underway at 5 p.m. with the Laker Band performing at 5:45 p.m. The program is an exhibition appearance and is not a competitive event. Other bands appearing include Cumberland County, Williamsburg, Corbin, Larue County, Mercer County, Boyle County, Barren and the Adair County Band which is the host band.
The pre-season exhibition is an annual event in which the Laker Band has participated for the past several years.
While the band will make earlier appearances at the Laker Football games, their first competition is scheduled for September 13. The exact schedule and contest locations have not been finalized at this time.
The Laker performance program, Confined Corridors, is described as a fast paced program with a high level of difficulty. The Laker Band competes in division AAA.
The Laker Band is under the direction of Andy Critz, Paige Crowe and Brain Eisert.
