In Aug. 23 issue, Russell County News By Ron Cowell, Columnist
It's hard to believe it's August already and another season of Car Shows and Cruise Ins are about coming to an end. It's been a good year for all the clubs here in Russell County.
The newest formed club in Russell County, THE "OUTSIDERS" will be having their last Cruise In of the Season Thursday, September 4th at Lake and Shake Grill and Town & Country Real estate Parking lot. This is one you won't want to miss and tell your friends about.
It will be held as usual at the Lake & Shake and Town & Country Real Estate parking lot. A DJ playing the music of the 50's, 60's and 70's. A parking lot full of Classic cars, hot rods, street rods and more. Plus get to visit and talk with friends and neighbors about the old days, classic cars and more.
There will be drawings at the Cruise In and you could win one of many prizes. There will be giving away over $350.00 worth of really nice prizes. You can't win if you don't attend so mark that day on your calendar and plan on attending so you could win some of these great prizes.
Some of the prizes to be given away that night are; A brand new acoustic guitar donated by Strings & Things Music Center. An oil change and lube job from Don Franklin Motors. A car cleaning kit donated by R & D Recording, A free haircut from The Golden Shear Barber Shop, A gas card from G & J Auto Sales. A goodie bag full of items from Wilson Crop Insurance. A gift Certificate from Hubbard's Car Quest Auto Parts.
All this plus gift certificates from, The Jamestown Café, Long John Silvers, Jamestown Handi Mart, Lake & Shake, Giovanni's pizza, plus books on the 1950's and CD's and there could be even more. But you can't win any of these great prizes if you don't attend.
The "Outsiders" would like to thank all the local businesses who sponsored our final Cruise In of the Season. Also all the people from the Old Boys Toys, Lake Cumberland Classic Auto Club and all the other clubs that came out with their cars through out the summer. And the many, many people who came just to see the old cars and have a good evening.
Don't forget to mark that date down and make plans on being there. You can't win any of those nice prizes if you don't attend.
The club would also like to thank Ted and Julie Beckman of Lake and Shake Grill, who not only give us their parking lot for the Cruise Ins but also the Building for our Headquarters to hold the meetings. A special Thanks also to Lori Antle of Town & Country Real Estate for the use of their parking lot and for supplying the electricity for the Cruise Ins.
This past year was the very first year for The "OUTSIDERS" car club. The Club formed about a year ago with 12 members. Over the past year the club has grown to 35 members.
I have had the pleasure of being the very first secretary of the club. Being in that position I have had the pleasure of working with Billy Lawson, Themie Shepard and Sandy Wiend of the Old Boys Toys Club.
Also Brenda Wilson, the Secretary of the Lake Cumberland Club. These people and their members are what car clubs and "crusin" are all about. Always willing to help another club.
If your Car Club is having an event you would like us to tell everyone about drop me a line with all the information at djron47@yahoo.com. All information on events needs to be turned in at least two weeks before the event.
Also with summer here you may want to have one of the Clubs in the County bring their cars for display at your club or church or function. Once again drop me a line and I will get you in touch with the Clubs in the area. The clubs of Russell County are more than happy to show off their cars. Till next time… Keep Cruisin.
