News of a planned Special Session of the Russell County Grand Jury was confirmed by Commonwealth’s Attorney Matthew Leveridge Wednesday morning. That session is slated for Sept. 25. Leveridge would not discuss what was on the agenda for that meeting. At least one source in the law enforcement community has reported that a number of drug-related cases will be presented that day. The Russell County Grand Jury returned indictments against nine people, in regular session Tuesday.- Tarry B. Dobbs, 48 - DUI, 4th offense, driving on a DUI suspended license, resisting arrest, expired registration plates, and being a persistent felony offender 2nd degree. Mitchell Ballenger, 21 - burglary 1st degree, two counts of theft by unlawful taking of property valued over $300, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving on a DUI suspended license. Brandon L. Garner, 26 - Burglary 2nd degree, theft by unlawful taking over $300, criminal mischief 1st degree, and being a persistent felony offender 2nd degree. Tommy L. Bryant, 40 - Theft by unlawful taking over $300, criminal trespass 3rd degree, and persistent felony offender 1st degree. Andy R. McClister, 27 - Attempt to obtain controlled substance by fraud, persistent felony offender 1st degree. Wanda Bishop, 26 - Criminal abuse 1st degree Bradley L. Worley, 29 - Criminal abuse 1st degree, being a persistent felony offender 2nd degree. Terry Petty, 43 - Theft by failure to make required disposition of property over $300 Jonathan T. Dotson, age 22 - Theft by unlawful taking over $300 An indictment, or true bill, from a grand jury is not proof of guilt or innocence, but is the decision of the jurors that enough evidence exists in a case to warrant a trial.
