In Oct. 23-29 IssueThe Russell County Middle School Laker football team won the Central Kentucky Middle School Athletic Conference championship on Saturday at Laker Field.
The Lakers, coached by Barry Bolin, defeated Larue County 34-14 to go undefeated on the season with a 13-0 record.
Bolin’s Lakers have defeated such teams as Lebanon, Southern Middle, Larue County, Green County, Hart County and Adair County this season by blowout scores.
Bolin and his staff of Lynn Taylor, Chris Taylor, Greg Hammond, Donnie Morrison and Jason “Bucky” Walters developed the right gameplan for these young players and watched them take off from day one.
Players like Barton Mann, Nick Britt, Evan Fletcher, Lucas Whittle, Kennedy McFarland, Austin Beard, Travis Frank, Jalen Bennett, and others helped propel the Lakers to this remarkable season.
After downing Hart County 42-8 last Tuesday the Lakers set their sights on Larue County, who they had defeated earlier this season.
The Lakers jumped out to an early lead and shell-shocked Larue County, who never recovered.
The middle school Lakers end the season with 13 wins and look to next year for equal success.
