The Russell County Upward basketball and cheerleading program is currently conducting sign-ups for the 2008-09 season. Upward is open to all Kindergarten through 8th graders.

You may sign up at the Russell Springs United Methodist Church or Jamestown Christian Church from Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. or during one of the evaluation nights.

Evaluations, given to balance team strengths, will be held at the Russell Springs United Methodist Church gym on Monday night, Nov. 10, Tuesday night, Nov. 11 and again on Monday night, Nov. 17. The time for all three nights is 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Every basketball player and cheerleader must go to one of the evaluations.

Costs are as follows: Early registration (Oct. 22-Nov. 11)-$45 for basketball, $50 for cheerleading. Late registration (Nov. 12-17)- add $5 to original fee. There are multi-child discounts. Partial and full scholarships are available on need. Registration will be closed after Nov. 17.

Sponsors of Russell County Upward include the Jamestown Christian Church, the Bernard Ridge Church of God and the Russell Springs United Methodist Church, where the games will be played, along with others.
