In Nov. 6-12 Issue
We have a new president. It is not a name that most in this area would associate with the great and deep history of this county. The name of Barack Hussein Obama just does not lend itself to the heritage of this country.
But, it certainly will in the future and will likley be recognized as a turning point in our history.
The election is over and now this great country must come together and must solve the many issues facing all of us today.
We will leave the analysis of the election to all those “so talented television commentators” but we will state that now is the time for all of us to come together for the good of this nation.
How many time in the next few weeks can we image we will the hear the above noted statement come from the mouths of our government leaders. Many, many, we are certain.
But how many times will it be said with true meaning. Very likely none.
Our government has reached the point that all decision are based along political lines. The political foundation that formed this great country is the very same foundation that in our opinion is not destroying this country.
Our leaders are elected to represent us, but in reality the party is the one that is being represented. Decisions are no longer based on what is good for the people but are based on what is good for the party and who has control of what.
All of us can only hope and pray that somewhere in the future we will return the government to the well being of this nation.
Speaking of and about this nation we cannot ever forget the many men and women that have served and are now serving our armed forces.
So many lives have been given, so many families have paid their share of cost for our freedom.
We have always placed our military men and women is high esteem and even more so today.
War is a terrible thing. Lives are given, families destroyed, father and mothers lost. We can only look back over the years past and just cannot even imagine what our lives would be like today if not for these men and women who paid this cost of freedom.
We salute them today. Next Tuesday our county will hold a dedication ceremony in Jamestown as we honor our veterans and dedicate the new monument.
Let’s all show our appreciation and let’s all attend this event.
This dedication ceremony is set for Tuesday, Nov. 11th at 5 p.m.
