In Nov. 27 IssueThe Russell County Swim Team competed against 18 teams on Nov. 22nd at the Fall Preview in Elizabethtown.
Over 300 swimmers hit the water that day. Russell County Laker Boys placed 4th and Lady Lakers placed 7th.
Dustin Ballenger received a high point trophy for 7th grade boys and Alex Miller placed 2nd among senior boys.
Seventh grader, Rachel Haynes was a stand-out among the girls. She placed in the top 30 in 50 yd swims of backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle and was then qualified to compete in the 100 yd. swims of those same events.
Alex Miller, Zach Grider, Chase Carnes, and Dustin Ballenger moved onto the 100 yd. swims in all four events and Dakota Meece qualified to swim 100s in both butterfly and backstroke.
Alex Miller placed 1st in the 50 fly and 50 free, 3rd in the 50 back, 4th in 50 breast. In the 100 events, Alex placed 2nd in 100 free missing 1st by 1/100 of a second, 4th in back, 5th in both fly and breaststroke.
Chase Carnes placed 4th in 50 fly, 6th in 100 fly, and 10th 50 breast. Zach Grider placed 6th in 50 fly, 9th in 50 free, and 10th in 100 free.
Laker swimmers combined, shaved nearly 200 seconds off their Personal Best times.
