In Dec. 4 IssueBy Kim GrahamTimes Journal ReporterAt a special called Russell County Ambulance Board Meeting Tuesday night, board members reviewed and approved a proposed position description and employment qualifications for Ambulance Service Director.
EMS shift supervisors and other staff were present providing input in the process.
“I think we should take their advice into consideration,” said board member David Withers.
Up to now, there has been no written description defining the director’s duties but the board has now set specific policy and guidelines for the position.
“It’s something that’s never been done so we’re setting the policy for the future in Russell County,” said interim director Andy Sayers.
Sayers hopes to have the position posted early next week. Once posted, they will accept applications until January 5, 2008.
Among other criteria, applicants will be required to live within a 30 minute drive, obeying posted speed limits, to the EMS station.
All resumes will be reviewed by the board at their January meeting and narrowed to a workable number for interviews.
Initial interviews will be conducted by a committee of EMS shift supervisors and they will make their recommendations to the board.
The board will hold second interviews with candidates and make the final decision on the selection of a new director.
The next regularly scheduled Russell County Ambulance Board meeting will be held Tuesday, December 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Russell County EMS station.
