In April 9 IssueBy Derek AaronTimes Journal Sports EditorCoach Trent Tarter’s Lady Lakers picked up two wins last weekend in the 21st annual Lady Laker Classic at Lady Laker Field.
Russell County picked up victories over Wayne County, 13-12 in eight innings, and Clinton County, 3-1, before falling to Marion County, 11-6.
Five teams joined the Lady Lakers in the tournament, Marion County, Adair County, Clinton County, Elizabethtown and Wayne County.
The Elizabethtown Lady Panthers defeated the Adair Couny Lady Indians 7-2 to take home the classic’s championship trophy.
The Lady Lakers hit the field again on Saturday, April 11, when they travel to Tates Creek High School in Lexington for the Tates Creek Round Robin tournament for three games.
