In April 9 IssueBy Derek AaronTimes Journal Sports EditorCoach David Rexroat’s Laker baseball team won two of three games over the weekend at the Southwestern Warrior Classic in Pulaski County.
In the first game on Friday, the Lakers faced a tough Whitley County team, winning 1-0 on a Martin Cross run in the bottom of the 7th inning.
Senior Adam Black pitched a complete game shutout with three strikeouts and no walks while only allowing four hits.
In the games on Saturday, the Lakers went 1-1, defeating Southwestern 4-3 in eight innings, and lost to Lincoln County 5-2.
In the Southwestern victory, Caleb Russell picked up the victory while Cody Stephens came on in relief and picked up the save.
In the Lincoln County loss, Jared Coffey took the loss on the mound.
The Lakers now stand at 6-1 on the season and head to Owensboro over the weekend to play two games in the River City Classic.
