In April 16 IssueBy Derek AaronTimes Journal ReporterThis Saturday night, the Russell County Hospital Auxiliary presents the second annual Dancing with the Stars at Russell County High School, according to event coordinator Brenda Higginbotham.
The fun is set to get underway at 7 p.m., she said.
Following last year's success at the event, Higginbotham said this year's event should be even bigger and better.
"We're expecting it to be a fun time," she said. "We think everyone will enjoy themselves."
She said four adult couples and three children couples would be participating in two dances each before a large crowd and a group of judges being brought in from Pulaski County.
Admission to the event is $5 at the gate, Higginbotham said. She also said there would be two specialty acts performed by the Jamestown Elementary 4th and 6th grades as well.
Higginbotham said the night would get started with last year's contest winners, Kevin Shearer and Lisa Gosser, on the dance floor.
Following the previous year's winners, dances will be performed by the adult couples, Greg Hammond and Kim Haydon, Nick and Jamie Shearer, Tony Boyd and Teresa Spaw and Jacky Aaron and Rachael Antle.
The children couples that are expected to dance are Blake Bolin and Sophie Shearer, Luke Popplewell and Elayna Popplewell and Clay Pippen and Hannah Pippen.
The winners will be given a large trophy and will be recognized as Dancing with the Stars winners for the entire year.
"We would like to invite everyone out to this great event," Higginbotham said.
The Auxiliary has served Russell County Hospital since 1981. It has around 50 members and is always welcome to new members.
