In April 23 IssueThe Russell County Middle School track team traveled to Green County on April 14th and the girl’s team ran away with an overall win.
Ally Harris, won the 400 meter dash, an event that she dominates in. She was also the anchor leg on the winning 4X400 relay as well as placing third in the 100 meter dash, an event she has never ran before. Ally is a very important member on the middle school level as well as high school level. She is very competitive and is determined to be the best.
Kelsey Haydon placed second in the 100 and 200 meter dash, as well as being on the winning 4X400 relay. Emily York placed third in the 200 meter dash, second in the 400 meter dash, third in the high jump, and was also a member of the winning 4X400 relay. Heather Owens placed second in the 800 meter run and the long jump. MacKenzie Back placed fourth in the 800 meter run and fourth in the long jump. Both Owens and Back had ever competed in the long jump event. Owens was also on the winning 4X400 meter relay team. Selena Padilla placed third in the 100 meter hurdles and won the high jump event. MacKenzie back, Danielle Walters, Breanna Hudson, and Autumn Smith took second place in the 4X100 meter relay. Emily Wilson won the shot put event and placed fourth in the discus event. Overall the girls team did an outstanding job in their performances and continue to improve on their times and confidence. All of the middle school girls also run varsity.
The boy’s do not have enough members to make a complete team, but did well in their individual events. Trevor Robertson won the 16oo meter run and the 800 meter run. Trevor is gaining strength and is running at a higher level this year. He will be hard to be beat at the middle school level, and competes well at the high school level. Wes Fletcher placed sixth in the 100 meter dash and 200 meter dash, fourth in the 400 meter dash and fifth in the long jump.
Robert Bradshaw placed seventh in the 100 and 200 meter dash. Bradshaw also placed sixth in the long jump. Zak Schultz placed third in shot put and discus. Jacob Lynch placed fourth in shot put and discus.
