In April 23 IssueLast Saturday night the Russell County Hospital Auxiliary presented the second annual Dancing with the Stars at Russell County High School with Greg Hammond and Kim Haydon coming away with the top prize, according to event coordinator Brenda Higginbotham.
Several hundred people showed up to watch the performances, according to event planners.
The dancing competition showcased three couples in the adult division, three couples in the "Little Stars" division, with two performances by 4th and 6th grade students from Jamestown Elementary.
The participants included first place winners Greg Hammond and Kim Haydon, Nick and Jamie Shearer as well as Tony Boyd and Teresa Spaw.
In the children's division Blake Bolin and Sophie Shearer, Luke Popplewell and Elayna Popplewell, and Clay and Hannah Pippen all performed for the audience.
All proceeds collected went to further the services provided daily by the hospital's Auxiliary.
The Auxiliary has served Russell County Hospital since 1981. It has around 50 members and is always welcome to new members.
The Auxiliary provides many important services that enhance the care provided to patients, their family members and visitors, according to the hospital.
