In April 30 IssueBy Misty MatneyRCHS Track CoachThe track team traveled to West Jessamine on April 21 for the RJ Corman Railroad Relays.
The weather conditions for this meet were cold and in the 40’s with high wind gusts and periodic rain and sleet falling. This was a meet of relays and field events only.
Despite the conditions the teams did well and had a good time competing in this type of fun mid-season event. Tough teams like Henry Clay, Woodford County, Bryan Station and Model were all present for this meet, along with some other large schools.
The highlights from the meet were Whitney Grider receiving third in the long jump and the throwers 4X100 relay consisting of Chelsea Barger, Logan Clark, Emily Wilson and Codey Bell.
It’s always a fun thing to have the throwers running in a relay and doing well at it. Individual’s often think throwers cannot run, but that is quite the contrary.
