In April 30 IssueSince last Thursday, Coach David Rexroat’s Laker baseball team has won four games, including two district wins over Metcalfe and Cumberland counties.
On Tuesday the Lakers hosted the Panthers of Cumberland County and came away with a 6-2 victory.
Senior Adam Black struck out eight batters in the complete game victory.
Laker Jared Coffey’s three run triple helped the Lakers to pull out of reach midway through the game. Bryson McFall and Cody Stephens also had RBI’s in the game. McFall also swiped three bases.
The Laker JV defeated Cumberland County as well, 2-0, with Taylor Hutchison picking up the win on the mound.
On Monday the Lakers traveled to rival Adair County and blasted the homestanding Indians, 15-4, while the JV also won, 7-5.
Lakers Cody Stephens, who had two doubles, and Zach Carney each had three RBI a piece with Carney hitting a homerun in the game. Bryson McFall had two RBI’s while Tyler Robertson had one RBI.
Last weekend the Lakers traveled to Louisville to play in the LIT Invitational, coming away with a 1-3 record. The Lakers defeated Fern Creek 7-0 but lost to Shelby County 13-3, and Greenup County, 9-8.
In the win over Fern Creek, Tyler Robertson pitched seven shutout innings, striking out seven for the win. Robertson and Carney each had two RBI’s in the game as well.
Last Thursday the Lakers defeated district foe Metcalfe County 6-3 in the varsity game and 8-2 in the JV game.
Caleb Russell picked up the varsity win and Robertson belted a homerun in the game.
