Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms served a search warrant on Tantus Tobacco Tuesday.
George Bertram, counsel for the company reported that, "Tantus Tobacco cooperated with tobacco enforcement officials from Mississippi today and provided them with business records they requested. This required a brief delay in production. Full production will resume tomorrow with all 135 employees reporting for work at 7:00 a.m."
He said the search warrant was for documents.
"We're not concerned," Bertram said. "It is an administrative thing."
Bertram said that at present clearing up the appearance from today's action was the issue.
"They wanted records and that is how they go about getting them," Bertram said. "At this point haven't had chance to review (what was taken)."
He stressed that everyone would be back at work Wednesday morning.
