Cruisin': The “OUTSIDERS” and Some Changes
In May 2 Issue
Russell County News
By Ron Cowell, Columnist

The newly formed car club “THE OUTSIDERS” had their first year of Cruise Ins last year at the Lake & Shake Grill on Hwy 80.

those of you who attended, the club appreciates all the support you gave them last year.

They want to let you know they have made some changes this year that you may want to take note of.

Last year the club held the Cruise Ins at the old Lake & Shake on Hwy. 80 on Thursday nights.

If you haven’t been past Lake & Shake in a while, the place is no longer in business. The Outsiders were forced to look for a new place to hold their Cruise Ins.

After a lot of discussion, the Outsiders voted to have their Cruise Ins at America’s # 1 Drive in, The Sonic in the Key Village Shopping Center.

But not only the place has changed so has the night.  The Cruise Ins will be held the second Friday of each month, May through September, the first one will be held on May 8th. All the fun will get started at 6 p.m.

Some other big changes were made for this year also.  The public will have a chance to win at the “OUTSIDERS” Cruise Ins this year.

At each Cruise in there will be a 50/50 raffle. You will not only have the chance to win the 50/50, but at each Cruise in, spectators will have a chance to win one of ten prizes that will be given away at each Cruise.

These prizes range from  CASH that was donated my Premier Integrity Solutions to some fantastic tools, free hair cuts from the Golden Shear , gift certificates from local area restaurants like Long John Silvers and the Jamestown Café and car cleaning products from Napa and Car Quest.

Also many nice prizes from Strings and Things Music Center, G & J Car Lot, R & D Recording, Wilson Crop Insurance, Ron Phillips Car Cleaning Products and many, many more.

Along with that there will be door prizes handed out and Trivia Quiz where you can win. This year the Cruise in should prove to be a lot of fun.

Music will be provided by Ron’s Rockin’ Oldies, the same as last year. All the great music from the 50’s through the 80’s.

There will be other surprises this year that you will have to attend to see what these are.

The Club has worked very hard over the winter to get ready for this year’s events. They not only wanted to make it more fun for the Car Lovers and their cars but also for the Car Lovers who do not have an old car and just want to come out and join in the fun.

A special “Thank You” goes out to all the club’s sponsors.  They will be telling you more about them at all the Cruise Ins.

Thanks to the hard work of several club members and all the sponsors, this year should prove to be a fun filled season at The “OUTSIDERS” Cruise Ins.  Mark the dates on your calendar and they hope to see you there.

If your Car Club is having an event and you would like us to tell everyone about or someone who you would like to see featured in this article send all information to, djron47@yahoo.com .

All information on upcoming events needs to be in at least two weeks before the event.

If your Club or church or group is having an event and you would like to display some classic cars at that event let me know at least two weeks before the event.

I will put you in contact with one of the clubs that will gladly bring their cars out for display.
