In May 2 IssueRussell County News100 days in office. It’s hard to believe it, but our new President has been in office for a 100 days but it’s seems like an eternity! I just pray that he gets more accomplished in the next 100 days than he has in the first! “In My Opinion”, he needs to stop apologizing for the United States and start supporting us.
It time to get off of the campaign trail and start running this country. I just can’t believe there are so many Kool-Aid drinkers out there that are clinging to the false hopes that have been promised over the past couple years.
Dick Morris reported “President Obama showed his hand this week when The New York Times wrote that he is considering converting the stock the government owns in our country's banks from preferred stock, which it now holds, to common stock.
That seemingly insignificant change is momentous. It means that the federal government will control all of the major banks and financial institutions in the nation. It means socialism”.
Morris went on to say, “To avoid the issue of a potential for government control of the banks, everybody agreed that the stock the feds would take back in return for their money would be preferred stock, not common stock. "Preferred" means that these stockholders get the first crack at dividends, but only common stockholders can actually vote on company management or policy.
Now, by changing this fundamental element of the TARP plan, Obama will give Washington a voting majority among the common stockholders of these banks and other financial institutions. The almost 500 companies receiving TARP money will be, in effect, run by Washington.
And whoever controls the banks controls the credit and, therefore, the economy. That's called socialism.”
It’s time for all of the people out there that are clinging to the hopes and promises of the Obama administration to wake up!
I received a great example this week of what can happen in a socialistic society. It’s called “Socialism 101” An economics professor at Texas Tech said he had never failed a single student before, but had once failed an entire class.
The class he failed had insisted that socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer. The professor said ok, we will have an experiment in this class on socialism. All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.
After the first test the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.
As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too; so they studied little. The second test average was a D! No one was happy.
When the 3rd test rolled around the average was an F. The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.
All failed, to their great surprise. The professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great; but when government takes all the reward away; no one will try or want to succeed.
It could not be any simpler than that. If you want to tell the President how you feel, send a letter to “President Obama, The White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20500 or e-mail him at www.whitehouse.gov/CONTACT Your voice can make a difference.
May God bless…
