Celebrating The Fourth
In June 11 Issue

It appears there will be a 4th of July Celebration as we understand the City of Russell Springs has come forth with plans for a community get-together.

Jamestown had put the celebration on hold this year as the construction preparation around the square was proving to make arrangement difficult.

We are not aware of any of the details or plans, but we are certain county leaders will combine to bring an enjoyable July 4th to the community.

We feel the celebration of our freedom is one we should exercise in every community and public way possible and we thank all those dedicated to continue this tradition.

These freedoms are getting more sacred each and every day.

To us they appear to be disappearing on a regular basis and it is extremely frightening.

Each day our “Government” is very gradually pulling in the reigns as to what we decide for ourselves and  what choices we may or may not have.

In many cases, our government is telling us what we may possess or may not possess.  Firearms are a good example. Some cities you cannot even have one in you home. Some legislators would like to ban all guns and firearms.

Some cities are wanting to tell us how much sugar we can eat. Whether or not we can eat food prepared in certain oils. In many cases the government is already telling us whether or not we can receive certain medical treatment and where and when we may be treated.

If our present leadership has its way, this will only be expanded and extended to reach everyone. Politicians will be our medical advisors and providers!

Governments, local, state and federal, have total control of what we are taxed and what we are not. It does not matter whether we approve or not.

Some cities have banned smoking in public buildings and in some cases have even banned smoking in your private homes.

They will very soon be telling us what size vehicle we can drive. That is just around the corner. The government now tells us how much and what we can grown on our farms and the list goes on and on.

We feel certain our forefathers that signed the Declaration of Independence and composed our Constitution and Bill of Rights could not have ever imagined a government as we have today, much less approve of it.
