Avalee Smith, 50, was arrested at his Russell Springs home Monday and charged with cultivating marijuana 5 plants or more, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and trafficking in marijuana less than 8 oz.
State police responded to Smith's residence on East Mt. Eden Rd along with the Russell County Department of Social Services to assist with a drug complaint.
After arriving at the residence the troopers located a single marijuana plant in plain view in the bed of a pickup truck parked at the residence, according to authorities.
Through investigation, 87 marijuana plants were located inside the residence as well as an active indoor grow in the garage, state police said.
Smith was taken into custody and was lodged in the Russell County jail where he posted a $10,000 cash bail bond on Tuesday. Smith is slated to appear in district court on July 6 to answer to his charges.
