Cruisin': Sonic Car Show & More
In July 4 Issue
Russell County News
By Ron Cowell, Columnist

This past Saturday Sonic Drive In in Russell Springs held their 2nd annual Car Show at the famous American Drive in.. Several were on hand in spite of the heat to enjoy the show and have a good time.

The Show started officially at 12 noon and ran till 3:00 PM but cars started rolling in as early as 10:30. Charlie Napier, The DJ of the Cars was on hand to play some of the good old Rock and Roll and country music. He also had plenty of Trivia questions where people were winning DVD movies and much more. Along with the music there was Corn Hole games on hand with people tossing the corn bag for points to win.

Brandy, the Mgr. Of Sonic was on hand also to pass out door prizes and the trophies. Some really nice cars attended the show this year. Judges said they had a very hard time picking the winners.

John McDaniel took the best of Show with his 1957 Ford Hartop Convertible. This is a beautiful car that I’m sure many have seen at some of the Area shows.

The top 10 cars were honored also. Those people are shown in the picture. To many to name them all but I am sure you know the faces. Congrats to all the winners that day ...

4th of July Antique Car Show

Don’t forget also, even though Jamestown is not having the Lakefest celebration this year, Doc Monin will still be having his Antique Car show at the grade school in Jamestown. This will be the 40th year for the show that features all original Antique Cars from all over. Doc usually draws a lot of cars at this show. Music will be Provided by “Ron’s Rockin Oldies” and will all get started at around 9:00AM. Brush up on your trivia from TV and music and cars. There will be a lot of trivia questions asked with prizes for the winners. If you have never attended this show you will have to make it a point to come out and enjoy these all original cars from the past.

4th of July at The Cove

Coming up the 4th of July at the Cove on 80 will be Block Party with several old cars on hand. Donna at the Cove has told me they will have ice cream and plenty of specials for the evening of fun.. The Twins will be playing the music for the evening. Everyone is invited to bring your classic car and have an evening of fun and music. Even if you don’t have an old car come out and see the ones on hand and enjoy.. Everyone is welcome. Everything gets underway at 5 PM and will run till at least 9:00PM.

4th of July at Russell County Fair Grounds

The 4th is a busy day for car shows. The Luke Burton Memorial Cruise in will be held on Saturday the 4th of July also. This will take place at the Russell County Fair Grounds. Registration will start at 11 AM. The Cruise in will be open to all cars, modern, antique, trucks, motorcycles and Rat Rods. There is free registration and plenty of door prizes at this event.

There is plenty to do this week end with Car Shows and all. Hope to see you at one of them.

If your Car Club is having an event and you would like us to tell everyone about or someone who you would like to see featured in this article send all information to, djron47@yahoo.com .
