In July 25 IssueRussell County News"We're in the process of making sure all school activities are in place," said Susan Melton. "From two-thirty to six-thirty it will be used for swim team practices."
Melton, who is in charge of the new Russell County Schools Auditorium Natatorium Complex, said they will begin making hours available to the public as soon as possible. First schedules and other details have to be worked out.
There are bleachers in place for 400 spectators in the swimming pool area, and both this school district and Lindsey Wilson are scheduled to be using the facility.
At present Russell County schools have swimming, but no diving team.
"Can you coach diving," asked Assistant Superintendent Kenny Pickett. Plans are to add a team once a coach is located.
Melton said they are working to insure that the pool is available to school programs first, and then to the community at large, insuring that school programs and public use are never mixed.
They have already been getting requests for pool party rentals, and she said plans are in the works for a dedicated web page for rentals of all the facilities.
The meeting room was in use this week by the Kentucky Farm Bureau for their annual banquet, Melton said.
Melton said the auditorium is scheduled for a hospital auxiliary concert September 12th.
