The Russell County Laker Freshmen, JV and Varsity volleyball teams made quick work of their games on Thursday August 27, dismissing the Lady Cardinals of Wayne County .

The Freshmen team never looked back as they took a two game sweep and defeated the Cards RC-21/ WC-15 and RC-21 / WC- 9.

The JV team started strong with a win RC-21 / WC-12 however in the second game the Cards battled back for the win RC-13 / WC-21 and the third game was a nail-biter with RC taking the win RC-15 / WC 11.

The first game for Varsity was fought tooth and nail with the Cards pulling out ahead for the win RC-20 / WC-25 The second game was not unlike the first except it was the Lakers who persevered for the win RC-25 / WC-20 As the third game began it was obvious both teams wanted a win as they volleyed the ball back and forth, but the Lady Lakers wanted it more as they dug out a win RC-25 / WC 12

The Lady Laker teams stormed the floor after the varsity games for a little celebration. The Lakers are at home Thursday as they host McCreary Central at 5 p.m.

On Tuesday, the Lady Laker volleyball team played against Casey County.

The Lady Laker freshmen and junior varsity teams won their matches, while the varsity Lady Lakers went to three games before losing 25-22.
