In Sept. 3 IssueSheriff Larry Bennett said the investigation had been going about six months, and it drew to a close at two county businesses this week with the seizure of, "Illegal video gambling machines."
Bennett, Deputy Clete McAninch and officers from the Kentucky State Police were wheeling video poker and other alleged gambling machines from two Russell County businesses Monday evening.
They executed search warrants at "TJ's" on East KY 80, better known as the "Aluminum Center Building" at Owenstown Schoolhouse Road, and at the same time, at Wade's Discount also located on KY 80 at Font Hill.
What investigators labeled as illegal video gambling machines, evidence of illegal poker games and over $7,000 in cash were seized.
A statement from the KSP reported that more search warrants are expected to be served targeting illegal gambling in Russell County and the information gathered will be presented to the next session of the Russell County Grand Jury.
Calls to both businesses went unanswered this week after the search warrants.
