In Sept. 24 IssueLong-time Assistant County Attorney Kevin Shearer, who is presently working in private practice, has filed a letter of intent to run for the position of County Attorney in 2010.
"I can begin campaigning," Shearer said.
He said his experience as assistant county attorney all those years taught him a lot, but his time on the other side of the table, as a defense attorney, has prepared his well for the position.
Shearer said that as soon as he told his aunts they began planning an announcement party for this week.
The Thursday night event is to be at Cora Lee Bolin's home and though it started out as just a family affair he said it has been growing rapidly.
Shearer said he's made it as official as he can until November when filing for the race opens.
There has been no word of any other officials filing for the coming year, though pundits are expecting many of the local races to be crowded.
