In Oct. 1 Issue"I've got my paperwork back from Frankfort," said Bobby Dunbar.
That paperwork is his letter of intent listing his intention to fundraise and campaign for the position of Russell County Jailer.
"When I was asked to go to work at the jail three years ago it was clear that I intended to run for jailer," Dunbar said.
The deputy said he will likely step down from his job at the jail once the race demands more of his time.
Dunbar is following a family tradition.
"My dad was a three-term jailer," Dunbar said. "I was raised around the jail."
He is the first candidate for Jailer to bring in his paperwork for the position, and only one other candidate have paperwork filed for another office in what is expected to be a busy, and full, campaign season.
