In My Opinion ... by Ron Phillips

Russell County News

“But I think the American people are well-served and believe they're well-served." Says White House Senior Adviser David Axelrod on “Face the Nation” last Sunday.

What do you think? If you think we are being well served by President Obama then please stop reading now!  If you’re not sure, then please read on. In a recent interview on Fox News Sunday, Rush Limbaugh laid it out.

Below are statements and comments taken from that interview with Mr. Limbaugh posted on Fox News’ website? Mr. Limbaugh stated that President Obama is pursuing a "radical" agenda that is putting the economy and national security in peril. He went on to say that Obama is a "child" driven by his "out-of-this-world ego.”

He went on to say "I'm really, really worried. We've never seen this kind of radical leadership at such a high level of power in the country," he said. "I don't think we're better off in any way it could be measured." He later stated "And when they get this health care bill -- if they do -- that's the easiest, fastest way for them to be able to regulate every aspect of human behavior, because it will all have some related cost to health care -- what you drive, what you eat, where you live, what you do -- and there will be penalties for violating regulation."  Limbaugh said these changes would have a drastic effect on the U.S. "It's going to be the biggest snatch of freedom and liberty that has yet occurred in this country." Does this sound familiar?

I still believe in the American People and I refuse to believe that this craziness is going to continue without a fight. I believe, as many already do that the time has come for a third party. It is already happening in some states and the Democrats are worried about a shift over to the Republicans or Independents.

The American People voted for change and they will keep voting for it until they see our leaders begin making some decisions that make sense.

I will close with my story that I shared with you a few weeks ago on the “Post Turtle”. I think it is worth repeating and if you missed it, well it goes like this…

While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old rancher, whose hand was caught in the gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Barack Obama being our President.

The old rancher said, 'Well, ya know, Obama is a 'Post Turtle.''

Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a 'post turtle' was.

The old rancher said, "When you're driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a 'post turtle.'"

The old rancher saw the puzzled look on the doctor's face so he continued to explain. "You know he didn't get up there by himself, he doesn't belong up there, and he doesn't know what to do while he's up there, and you just wonder what kind of dimwit  put him up there to begin with."

Sorry folks!  I had friends and family that voted for Mr. Obama, but it’s not too late to deal with it.  We should begin now for 2010 and finish the job in 2012.

May God bless…

Ron Phillips
